1) How do I use the mosaic items?
Most of our items are functional and can be used as a serving piece for food. They can also
be used as a decorative piece in your home. For example, the platters can be used to place
a candle on for a beautiful center piece and the wedge bowls can hold potpourri and be
placed in a bathroom or kitchen for a touch of elegance.

2) Are the pieces safe to serve food in?
Unless otherwise indicated all the pieces have been sealed with a non-toxic, food safe
sealer.

3) How do I wash my mosaic item?
Hand wash your serving piece in warm water with gentle detergent and dry thoroughly.

4) How do I keep my wooden serving piece looking like new?
After time, all wooden serving pieces will show wear. Use the following method of care to
keep your piece moist and prevent cracking. Use an ingestible mineral oil (sold in
supermarkets as a laxative) or a pure odorless olive oil (i.e., not virgin) in this seasoning
process. Pour a tablespoon of oil into the serving piece and a half-teaspoon of course salt.
Take a paper towel and gently scour the interior of the piece with the salt-oil mixture, use a
second paper towel to mop up any remaining oil and wipe the surface dry. Wait an hour or
so and then pour in a teaspoon more of the oil and rub it around the interior of the piece.
When the surface is well oiled, leave it for ten minutes and then wipe dry once more with a
paper towel. The piece is now ready for use. The idea is to protect and nurture the wood
with a coating of oil, so that the interior surface will possess a warm sheen and emit no
off-putting odors. After use, hand wash your serving piece in warm water with gentle
detergent, then reseason as needed.
